Enhance your people, improve your performance and increase productivity with Improvement apprenticeships.

City Skills are helping businesses to enhance their people, improve performance and increase productivity with Improvement apprenticeships, an alternative to funding a six sigma cert.  Delivered through first-class blended training, we offer bespoke training packages to ensure your business improvement, project or change management strategies are a success.

Improvement Apprenticeships vs a six sigma cert

Every organisation is different, so we tailor our Improvement Apprenticeship offering to suit. We work with a select panel of tutors. Ensuring the very highest standard of design to deliver exactly what your organisation needs. We work with you to find the perfect solution for your employees and your business.

We design improvement apprenticeships to align with your business needs. Enabling you to up-skill your teams, drive a culture of lean and high performance and create the next generation of team leaders, supervisors and managers with the top level management skills that allow the business to flourish and thrive.

Through the Improvement Apprenticeship Programmes, your teams will drive high standards of quality, reduce costs, manage supply chains, and avoid waste; giving your organisation a competitive edge and reducing bottom-line costs.

Benefits of Business Improvement Apprenticeships

Benefits of Business Improvement Apprenticeships

Improvement Practitioners use a blend of Lean and Six Sigma, project and change management principles and tools to identify and lead the delivery of change across organisational functions and processes. Improvement Practitioners can be found across all sectors and functions including automotive, banking, engineering, food products, IT, property, retail, telecoms, Local and County Councils, NHS, Voluntary / Charity, Utilities, Pharmaceuticals, Insurance, Hospitality etc.

Typically, Practitioners lead smaller projects and/or play a key supporting role in a larger programme – tackling issues that may require swift problem solving, or re-occurring challenges that require in-depth analysis and the implementation of a range of effective and sustainable countermeasures. They are the focal point for all stakeholders and responsible for communication throughout a project.

Our City Skills tutors will guide their learner journey to develop more expert skills.

All apprentices must have the right to work in the UK and not have studied a similar level qualification.

We have developed a learning programme to give all employers within England, large or small, looking to hire a new apprentice or upskill an existing employee the option for individual or group training as part of a larger cohort all with the guarantee of consistent high-quality delivery and engagement.

Improvement Leaders are responsible for developing improvement strategy, providing leadership in improvement for the business and for coaching and supporting Improvement Specialists in advanced analysis. The Improvement Leader typically reports to Board members or Heads of Department and manages (directly and/or matrix) a team of Improvement Specialists, who deploy the strategy, and lead improvement projects.  They work closely with all functions of the business to support the setting and achievement of business goals, often accountable for Improvement activities within the largest-scale and highest priority programmes of work. For example, they may develop top-level Value Stream Maps to identify improvement opportunities that are then scoped into projects to be delivered by Improvement Specialists or they may design new products/processes/services. The role is typically office-based but involves working wherever their improvement activities are focussed for example they could be working on the shop floor or at customer/supplier premises. They will develop their lean and six sigma skills at Master Black Belt level.
