🎥 Watch the walkthrough

1️⃣ Access My Submissions

Scroll approximately halfway down your Student Dashboard and click the pencil and paper icon to open the My Submissions area.

This section acts as your complete submission history throughout your apprenticeship.

2️⃣ View your submissions

Every piece of work you submit through MyPortfolio is stored here.

Each submission will display its current status:

🟠 Pending – Waiting to be reviewed or marked.

🟢 Approved – Successfully reviewed and accepted.

🔴 Referred – Requires further work and resubmission.

3️⃣ Filter your submissions

If you have a large number of submissions, you can use the filter options to quickly find what you need.

  • View only Pending submissions
  • View only Approved submissions
  • View only Referred submissions

Alternatively, scroll through your submission history by date.

4️⃣ Review a submission

Click View Details on any submission to see the full information relating to that piece of work.

You can:

  • View feedback from your Development Coach
  • Review marking outcomes
  • Check comments and guidance
  • View plagiarism screening results

📥 You can also click Download File to save a copy of the submission to your device.

5️⃣ Add a submission to your portfolio

If you believe a submission demonstrates competency against part of your apprenticeship standard, you can add it to your portfolio.

  1. Click Add to Portfolio
  2. Select the relevant competency, KSB, or assessment criterion (e.g. P1)
  3. Write a rationale explaining why the evidence meets that requirement
  4. Click Add to Portfolio to submit it for review

💡 Be specific when writing your rationale. Explain exactly how the evidence demonstrates the chosen competency or criterion.

6️⃣ Development Coach review

Once submitted, your Development Coach will review the evidence and determine whether it is suitable for your portfolio.

✅ If approved

The evidence will be added to your Portfolio section and linked to the selected competency.

🔄 If declined

Your Development Coach will explain why the evidence was not suitable and provide guidance on what is needed before resubmitting.

💡 Top tip: Don’t wait until gateway to review your submissions. Regularly adding suitable evidence to your portfolio can make EPA preparation much easier and help demonstrate competency coverage throughout your programme.

🙋 Need help?

If you are unsure whether a submission should be added to your portfolio, speak to your Development Coach who can help identify the most appropriate evidence and competencies.
